Holland takes Whynot victory
Success, Mississippi's Chase Holland found success in his home state over the weekend as he scored an Open Wheel Modified win and a runner-up finish at Whynot Motorsports Park in the Magnolia State.
On Friday, Holland’s No. 45 Modified was among 15 class entries at the quarter-mile, red-clay oval in Meridian, Mississippi. Holland set the second-quickest time in qualifying and started second for the 15-lap A-Main at the “House of Hook.” He led flag to flag and took the victory by 1.281 seconds over Jade Luzenberg, Cameron Williams, Greg Hollingsworth and Billy Tedford.
The win was Holland’s second feature triumph of the year and his second in the last three weekends.
Saturday’s program at Whynot drew 16 Open Wheel Modified entries, with Holland running up front throughout the evening once again.
He drove from seventh to second in his heat race and began the night’s 15-lap main event from the second spot. He maintained the runner-up position throughout the race and crossed under the checkered flag 0.787 seconds behind Luzenberg. Third place went to Hollingsworth, with Chad Williams and Toby Hodge completing the top five.
