Holland is runner-up in East Bay finale
The final event at East Bay Raceway Park was on the docket for Chase Holland and his Industrial Dock & Door No. 45 Modified team on Saturday. Holland turned in a strong effort in the Rusty Dixon Memorial at the 1/3-mile oval in Tampa, Florida, as he etched his name in the history books with a podium finish.
With a $10,000 winner’s share up for grabs, 44 DIRTcar UMP Modifieds descended on East Bay, necessitating four qualifying groups. Holland finished with the second-quickest time in his group and posted a third-place result in his heat race.
He began the 50-lap A-Main from the 10th position and quickly charged forward to take the lead on lap 21. He led 22 circuits before relinquishing the top spot with fewer than eight laps remaining. He took the checkered flag in the runner-up spot, 2.029 seconds behind winner Treb Jacoby. Third place went to Brian Skaggs, Hunter Gustafson took fourth and Austin Sanders came home fifth.
